Growing up, I was used to seeing the janitor at school wheel around the mop bucket. You know, the one with an attachment to squeeze the extra water out. I always thought that was a neat tool compared to a standard bucket with an ordinary mop at home.
Part of me looked forward to a day to try that bright yellow contraption… little did I know that in years to come I’d have plenty of opportunities using a variety of mops on various jobs.
When I was older and in the workforce - I was required to use the commercial sized mop and the fancy yellow bucket with the squeezing device attached. I’d have to say that the first time using a bucket and mop at home was not my idea of fun. It seemed to make more of a mess while trying to clean up said mess.
But the biggest problem? You were constantly using dirty water to try and clean with.
Further into adulthood my wife bought a steam mop for home use. The mop had a small reservoir for water in it and the handle had a pump type action as you used it. This action is what produced steam through the mop head. The mop head itself had a sock type covering. Once used, the dirty mop could be tossed into the laundry and reused. While this mop was convenient, it really only is great for quick spills. The steam mop didn’t pick up much dirt, but rather just sanitized it.

After seeing many ads online - the fancy looking spin mop caught my curiosity.
We ordered one and were eager to try it. It seemed like a good system. And there were so many influencers promoting it online.
Once it arrived, it took us about 24 hours to return it.
The mop head was messy. Once it was filled with water, you had to push the mop head into the bucket to spin it. And I don't know about you - but touching a dirty mop head isn't my idea of a good experience with cleaning.

We needed something better. That’s when I found a steam mop with two rotating mop heads. Similar reservoir tank for water and this model even has a headlight. I was delighted to show my wife and kids this new tool. To my kids dismay I told them this one was for work.
I find that after a thorough job of sweeping this steam mop with the dual rotating heads does a great job. Similar in size and handling but that extra bit of scrubbing goodness to help catch extra bits of dirt and grime that the broom missed. The mop heads are easy to use and clean as they can be removed and attached with ease.
We typically use this mop for our quick clean services. The steam is great at sanitizing surfaces and the scrubber pads are a great option for messes that need extra attention.
For home use, this is a great mop for people with chronic illness, kids and senior citizens because it is so quick, and easy to use.

Last year, my wife found a new wet mop for the business. At first, I wasn’t too sure about. It reminded me of that old yellow bucket with the squeezing attachment. But this was definitely different.
The bucket has a similar feature, two compartments, one for cleaning solution and one for dirty water. You dip the mop through the one side to get the clean water/solution on the head and the other side wrings it out for you so that there’s not a sloppy mess everywhere. I like how the mop handle can be adjusted down to smaller sizes by removing lengths of the shaft.
For the above reasons, we bought another one to use at home too!
The one complaint we’ve noticed - is that once the bucket is full of water, it’s heavy. Because of this, it might not be easy for young kids or senior citizens to use.
But if you need to clean your walls or ceilings - this is an amazing tool because it can be used both dry and wet. The best part? I no longer feel like I’m mopping with dirty water. The floors actually get clean. It’s been wonderful to use and easy as well.

What about bigger jobs - where expert cleaning is required?

This heavy duty mop is quite the beast to tame. But the scrubbing power is unmatched.
While this machine is great for our cleaning business, I wouldn’t recommend it for home use, and here’s why:
• It’s heavy. Very heavy. There isn’t a stand to “hold up” the machine when it’s not in use.
• Where Does The Water Go? While the machine is great for distributing water to clean a surface, there’s no mechanism to suck the water back up. You really need a second person following you around with a mop to pick up the dirty water.
• Yeehaw! This machine feels like it has a mind of it’s own. You’re going to need some core strength to maneuver it.

Getting on your hands and knees and scrubbing the floor is probably the best case scenario for your home - but it absolutely unrealistic for a variety of reasons.
Making my home or yours feel cleaner is the goal. While cleaning might not sound like a fun time - having a clean space is vital for relaxation and clear thought.
